Born on November 13th, 1995, in Milton, Ontario, Karson Pilote has practiced analog photography and filmmaking since graduating from the advanced Filmmaking Program at Fanshawe College in London Ontario, documenting the world around him. Inspired by his studies in filmmaking, Karson has directed short films, music videos and wedding videos, often with a variety of motion picture film.
Karson's versatile work is organically shot on 35mm, Medium Format, 16mm and Super 8 because he feels that the aesthetic and atmosphere of film is unmatched by anything else and cannot be replicated. Most of his favorite films are shot on film.
His short films have premiered across the world at film festivals. Karson’s proudest moment is when his short documentary “The Heart of the Blackhawks” (2017) about his grandfather Pierre Pilote, won awards and was featured on the Chicago Blackhawks website. It was the only time Karson received fan mail.
In addition to his film career, Karson has interned on TV shows like Schitt's Creek (Season 2, PA) and Trailer Park Boys (Season 12, Camera Assist/ Assistant Editor). He was also a paid PA for Big Red Oak working on commercial shoots, where he’d be a jack of all trades, doing anything that helps the team out.
Karson is currently working as a Freelance Filmmaker, Cinematographer, Photographer and Editor.
He is based in Toronto, Ontario.
